Smartphone use before sleep brings great danger. Smartphone use before going to sleep is causing great danger. As a result, sleep is negatively affected, as well as mental health. Recently, a group of researchers said in their research that one out of every ten university students are addicted to smartphones (Smartphone addicts). And this addiction is disturbing their sleep.
This information was obtained by surveying 1,43 students of King's College in London. It can be seen that 406 students are addicted to smartphones. Two-thirds of them suffer from sleep problems.
According to the survey, this addiction was seen among those who use smartphones at midnight or for four hours a day. Researchers have observed that if addicts are not allowed to use smartphones, they suffer from depression or ignore others. As a result of their use of this device, they are deprived of many enjoyable events in life.
Most of the addicts are of Asian descent, the researchers noted. About 46 percent of participants were black, 42 percent were black, and 38 percent were others. White students are least likely to be addicted.
The research report was published in the journal Frontiers in Psychiatry.
Research Assistant Dr. Ben Carter says smartphone addiction has a negative impact on sleep.
The researchers said that those who used smartphones for two hours a day showed signs of addiction, while those who used them for five hours were completely addicted.
They say that how long they stop using smartphones before going to sleep is also important. Those who stop using these sophisticated communication devices at least an hour before sleep are less addicted.
They say that those under the age of twenty one are more addicted to this device.
Dr. Barnaka Yubika says how long the smartphone is turned off before going to bed affects sleep. This habit is also harmful for mental health. Young people should focus on getting enough sleep.
