Constipation is an annoying and painful problem. Constipation does not occur overnight or suddenly. Many people spend hours on the toilet, but the stomach is not cleaned. Many people suffer from uncomfortable problems like constipation due to unhealthy and bad eating habits, non-nutritious food etc.
Dr. Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology Department of Mugda Medical College Hospital discussed this matter. Roknuzzaman Bhuya.
What is constipation?
Dr. in this regard. Roknuzzaman Bhuya said, Koshtha is a Bengali word. Which means feces. And kathinya means - when defecation is difficult. If the bowel movement is 2-3 times a week or less or if the stool is excessively hard or dry and the bowel movement is not satisfactory then we call it constipation. And when it lasts for about 3 months then we call it chronic constipation.
Who suffers from constipation?
Constipation can occur at any time of life. The patient should be observed without immediate alarm. If a patient develops anemia or if the stool is black, then it should be understood that he has a serious problem. At that time you should consult a doctor.
Dr. in this regard. Roknuzzaman Bhuya said, constipation can occur at any age at any time. However, research has shown that older people are more. Female constipation is more common among men and women. And among the children who leave mother's milk and gradually go to normal food, those children suffer from this disease more. Also, patients who cannot move due to other diseases (who have to lie down) also often suffer from constipation.
Also if there is abdominal pain then some tests may be needed to find out the reason behind it. At that time, arrangements should be made with the doctor's advice. Otherwise it can get complicated.
What types of tests are performed on critical patients?
Dr. in this regard. Roknuzzaman Bhuya said, we give some tests during this time. First we look at the amount of hemoglobin in the blood, for which a blood test is given. We do a stool test, see if there is blood in the stool. Check some hormones in the blood, check for diabetes and check for any tumor, ulcer, sediment in the anus.
Dr. What to eat to eliminate constipation, what not to eat . Roknuzzaman Bhuya said, I will say, we have to eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. Which contains a lot of fiber. Especially if we eat fruits during the season, the lack of fiber in the body will be reduced more.
And vegetables contain a lot of fiber in spinach, spinach, green leafy vegetables. Constipation will be removed if they are eaten in large quantities.
He said, constipation patients should eat less of some foods. For example: beef, fast food (cakes, burgers), chicken fries, potato fries, chips, etc. should always be eaten sparingly.
In this case, if the patient can change his diet, then in many cases, constipation can be eliminated. Also we should try to do manual labor.
