Clear waters of the Andaman Sea, attractive beaches, forested mountains, small islands — Phuket has pretty much everything to attract a tourist. Then there are all the wonderful beach resorts, restaurants and spas. All in all, there is hardly a more interesting place to visit. There are so many places to visit in Phuket that it's hard to pick just a few. Today we are introducing ten travel destinations there. I hope this list will be useful especially for those who are traveling with little time on their hands.
1. Patong Beach
Patong Beach can be called the heart of Phuket city. The golden sand beach is dotted here and there with restaurants that make it colorful. The mountains surrounding the beach and the clear waters of the sea add to its appeal. It's hard to find a quiet spot here, but there's no shortage of water sports.
Jet Ski, Fly Board, Paddleboarding, Parasailing and many more are available. If you want, you can also travel in a banana boat. But keep in mind that the cost is a bit high. Stairs also go here. There are also several resorts for tourists around the beach.
2. Koh Pane
If you want to understand more of Phuket's heritage, you can spend some time in the village of Koh Pane on the east coast of the island. Location of Phang Nga Ber Book. Here you will get a chance to see the amazing life of Moken tribe people known as 'Gypsies of the Sea'.
Mokens are determined to maintain their own beliefs and customs. Some Moken live by the sea. Many choose a semi-nomadic life in Danga. Most of the men in the village are fishermen by profession and sometimes work as guides in sea voyages.
If you want you can go to another village called Rawai. Rawai has its own small harbour. The village also owns a beautiful beach lined with palm and oak trees. You can hire boats from here to visit various offshore islands. The village is also famous for its seafood.
3. Because the view point
is located roughly between Nai Harn and Kata Koi beaches. From here, Kata Noi, Kata Yai and Karon Beach will also catch your eye with enchanting beauty. The place is full of tourists and photographers. There are some shelters to protect the body from the scorching sun. There you can have tea and coffee as well as light breakfast.
4. James Bond Island
Located in the Phang Nga National Park, James Bond Island is famous for its remarkable limestone formations. These include strangely shaped stalagmites (limestone pillars hanging from the ceiling of the cave) and stalagmites (limestone pillars rising from the cave floor). The island was formerly known as Bhao Phing Kan. It became known as James Bond Island in 1974 after some scenes of the James Bond film The Men with the Golden Gun were filmed on the island. It can be said that since then it has reached the peak of popularity among tourists.
5. Kata Beach
The golden sandy Kata beach lined with palm and jao trees will enchant you. The curved bay here and the mountain standing like a cliff on the seashore will also catch the eye. Compared to Patong Beach, there are less crowds and hawkers. There is a small island nearby. The place is also ideal for snorkeling i.e. swimming with goggles, snorkel or breathing tube and swimming fins to see aquatic animals.
If you are hungry, you can have papaya juice or snacks from one of the canopies by the beach. Great restaurants are also within walking distance.
6. Phi Phi Island
An hour's boat ride across the Andaman Sea will take you to this amazingly beautiful island called Phi Phi Island. It is considered as one of the best attractions in Phuket. The beauty of the surrounding beach is mesmerizing, blue-green water, various rock formations will fascinate you. You can spend a pleasant night on Phi Phi Island, or you can also come on a day tour from Phuket if you want.
7. Big Buddha Phuket's
Big Buddha is located on Nakarad Hill roughly between Kata Beach and Chalong. The Buddha statue is in a sitting position. A 360-degree view of the surrounding area is available from the top of the hill, where the 45-meter long Buddha statue can be seen. The Buddha statue made of concrete and white marble was built in 2004. You can take a taxi or a tuk-tuk to the top of the mountain via a six-kilometer winding road. But to reach in front of the statue, you have to climb several stairs.
8. Green Elephant Sanctuary Park
can be a wonderful travel destination for those who love wild animals and elephants. Green Elephant Sanctuary Park has been built in the middle of the forest near Surin beach. It can be called a safe habitat for large pets in natural environment.
Elephant lovers can take part in various activities including bathing, cleaning and feeding the elephants. But these have to be done under the guidance and supervision of the trainers present here. The sight of elephants playing in the water of the lake will also delight you. You can take a dip next to them if you want. The antics of elephants will also fascinate children.
Half-day tours are conducted in the park in the morning and afternoon. This includes hotel pickup, feeding the elephants, an educational presentation about the elephants, washing the elephants and a sumptuous buffet of Thai menus. 9. Old Phuket Town
What if you go to Phuket and not see the old town here! Houses built in Chinese and Portuguese designs, colorful walls, narrow streets, cafes, bakeries and small eateries will remind you of an old town.
10. Rang Hill Rang Hill
is located at the northern tip of Phuket and is great as a view point. From here you can see the beautiful view of Phuket and the surrounding islands and mountains. Besides, the green-blue water of the sea and the Big Buddha are also clearly visible from this hilltop. Rang Hill has a nice well-equipped park. There you will find everything from children's play areas, restaurants to fitness centers. The glittering city after sunset also gives a different look from the view point here.
